To help educators and organizations design, execute and measure project-based learning (PBL) activities, the Buck Institute of Education (BIE) has developed a "gold standard' for PBL. The gold standard has three parts: student learning goals, essential project design elements, and project-based teaching practices, according to the BIE site.
